Sinukmani festival is a celebration known to commemorate the founding of the Municipality of Rosario. This festival is celebrated by laying rice cakes on the streets, with different sizes, designs, and decorations that represent each participant for the event. If you want to learn more, keep reading.
Rosario has been identified as a 1st class municipality in Batangas and is known as the “Rice Granary of Batangas”, with the potential of becoming a leading agro-industrial center in the country. And for a municipality whose main product is rice, it is only natural that the presence of sinukmani or rice cake would be the highlight of the district, and to even have its own festival.
Sinukmani symbolizes the closeness, togetherness, and unity of the whole town of Rosario.
Sinukmani Festival features the “Pinakamalikhaing Sinukmani Contest,” that is why on the day of the fiesta, the participating Barangays will lay out their prepared sinukmani with a design that represent their respective areas. There can be different toppings, decorations, shapes, widths, and sizes.
This day is a way for every Barangay in Rosario to come together to have fun. The sinukmani will lay on the streets of Gualberto Avenue which in turn can stretch up to 462 meters.
These sinukmani will be judged by its design and creativity, and most importantly, the ones with the longest layed sinukmani will be announced as the winner of the event.
After the judging, people can enjoy and feast on the sinukmani they have prepared and even share it with others.
Another event during the festival is the street dance at the town plaza. Participating Barangay send their best team of dancers from various schools to compete. The dance is of course, according to the concept of the fiesta, and the costumes of the participants have a theme associated with sinukmani, mostly made out of rice sack, “bilao” or round bamboo tray, and “banigs” or woven mats.

Formerly known as the Rosario Dairy Raiser’s Association (RODRA), the group was established on June 21, 2012, and officially became a cooperative in September 2019. TRLAFCO, which was located at Brgy. Poblacion B, Agriculture Compound, Rosario, Batangas, is comprised of 81 members — 67 of whom are dedicated dairy farmers from Brgy. Mavalor, Maalas-as, Bulihan, Tiquiwan, and Salao, Rosario, Batangas. With a vision of a strengthened community with food security and livelihood projects that provide additional income while considering the welfare of each member, the cooperative strives to produce high-quality and nutritious carabao milk while promoting unity among its members.
The collective efforts of the dairy farmers and the cooperative’s management have propelled the Rosario Livestock and Agriculture Farming Cooperative to prominence in the agricultural sector. Through their continuous participation in events and their remarkable titles and accomplishments, the cooperative has proven its commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community development.
